HOW WE BEGAN … AND HOW WE’RE EVOLVING

In 2013, having successfully navigated a 25-year career building teams and new business models, Mark Richardson was ready to take on a new challenge. A big one!

Throughout his multi-faceted career, Richardson has built trust and robust networks in multiple communities. This often led to leaders informally asking his advice about how to attract and hire a wider array of talented people to join their workforce.

In 2010, while at the Urban League of Greater Madison, Richardson led the creation of the region’s leading Workplace Diversity and Leadership Summit.

Meanwhile, people eager to find more rewarding careers – and access to new opportunities that aligned with their passions and goals – increasingly sought him out for his expertise and connections.

Based on UB’s growing reputation for success, organizations from every sector have approached – and engaged us to assist them. That includes helping them address their broader Diversity, Equity & Inclusion goals, which include but are by no means limited to Talent Attraction & Acquisition.

ALSO PART OF THE TEAM

Freya reeves – Director of Communications

Longtime Richardson colleague Freya Reeves is UB’s Director of Communications – handling social media, website and other outreach efforts.

As the Director of Communications for Unfinished Business, Freya Reeves, plays a integral part in the ongoing creation and production of our social media and website. And also contributes widely to other behind-the-scenes and outreach efforts on behalf of the business and our clients.

Her long, multi-faceted career encompasses the worlds of advertising, fashion, publishing, content management and digital media. During her early career in Chicago, she was a photographer’s stylist and co-founded a women’s fashion and accessories firm – co-designing/creating, and selling its designs to high profile boutiques from NYC to LA.

She was an early practitioner of Integrated Marketing – initially while promoting Avalon to Camelot, a magazine she founded and published. Then as a copywriter on Leo Burnett Advertising’s Hallmark and McDonald’s direct marketing brand campaigns.

Building on all of the above experience, Freya became a key member of the 1995 start-up of landsend.com – a pioneer in the eCommerce space. And during her seven years with Lands’ End took on multiple roles as the site grew into a retail sales juggernaut.

She first worked alongside Mark Richardson at the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce as its Manager of Communications and Marketing. They teamed up again at the Wisconsin Dept. of Tourism where, as the Director of Technology & Customer Service, she supervised the ongoing development of TravelWisconsin.com and its online travel tools, also managing the agency’s high-touch customer service team.

As part of the GigBlender app development team Freya’s contributions gave voice to her decades of allyship and mentorship across creative and business communities and multi-generational workplaces.
